The choices behind your journey

Care for the places.
Respect for the people.

Responsibility lives in ordinary decisions: giving an animal space, equipping a porter properly, paying fairly and listening to the people whose home you are visiting. These are the commitments behind a Pinnacle journey.

Wildlife first

Let the wild remain wild.

We give wildlife the right of way, keep our distance and follow protected-area rules. A guide who steps back from a crowded sighting or refuses a harmful request has Pinnacle’s backing.

How we treat our crew

Respect you can see
in the working conditions.

Our guests experience Tanzania because a skilled local team makes that experience possible. Fair treatment is therefore not an optional gesture or a line in our marketing. It is part of how we operate every Pinnacle journey.

01Proper equipment

The right gear for the work.

We plan, inspect and provide the necessary role-appropriate equipment for our teams. On the mountain this includes suitable shelter, sleeping equipment, weather protection and shared safety equipment—not whatever happens to be left after guest packing is complete.

02Fair compensation

No one below the set standard.

No member of a Pinnacle crew is paid below the applicable standard set for their role. We explain pay clearly, calculate it accurately and pay as agreed. A gratuity is never used to excuse an inadequate wage.

03Dignity in the field

Cared for as professionals.

Proper meals, drinking water, reasonable work organization, rest, respectful communication and access to support matter for crew as well as guests. The people carrying responsibility deserve to be treated with responsibility.

Why tipping matters

Mountain tipping recommendations · Safari tipping recommendations

A meaningful thank-you for exceptional care.

Guides, cooks, porters, drivers and camp teams contribute skill, physical effort, judgement and encouragement long before a summit photograph or final game drive. When guests feel that service has earned recognition, a tip provides meaningful additional income and allows appreciation to reach the whole team directly.

We encourage tipping, but it remains voluntary. Before departure we explain a suggested approach based on the journey, group size and crew structure. We also explain how gratuities can be shared fairly and transparently, so the people whose work may be less visible are not forgotten.

  • Tips supplement fair pay; they do not replace it.
  • Guests choose whether and how much to give.
  • Safety decisions and service are never conditional on a tip.
  • Our pre-trip guidance identifies every participating crew role and explains how to thank the team fairly.
The Pinnacle Crew Commitment

Pinnacle Mountain Crew
Welfare & Savings Programme

Launching in June 2027, this new company-funded programme is built on Frazier Msuya’s social-work background. It will turn every Pinnacle Kilimanjaro expedition into a recorded long-term benefit for the crew who make it possible. Pinnacle will manage the programme and take responsibility for its crew welfare commitments and records.

3%of each completed, fully paid
Classic Kilimanjaro package
7%of each completed, fully paid
Premium Kilimanjaro package

The contribution comes from the package price; it is not an additional charge to the guest and no money is deducted from crew wages. Each expedition’s allocation is divided equally among all registered crew members on its final roster.

01 / Equal expedition shares

The formula is visible.

Once the expedition is completed and its package payment has cleared, management will record the final paid climb price, contribution percentage, total crew allocation and registered crew count. Every person named on the final crew roster will receive one equal share, recorded against that expedition.

02 / Individual records

Every crew member will be able to see their own balance.

Pinnacle will maintain a designated programme account and a private individual ledger for each participating crew member. The crew will be briefed on the calculation, and each person will be able to request their own contribution statement. Personal balances, medical information and beneficiary details will not be made public.

03 / When the balance can be used

Support at meaningful moments.

Accrued balances may be accessed under the written programme rules for serious illness or medical treatment, recognised education or skills development, or separation from Pinnacle service. Resignation does not erase an earned balance. If a member dies, the verified balance is paid to their nominated beneficiary or lawful estate.

At every completed five-year service anniversary, the member’s available balance matures automatically. They may withdraw it or leave it to continue accumulating. Any earlier approved withdrawal reduces the remaining balance.

04 / The foundation remains

Fair pay and legal protections come first.

This company-funded benefit does not replace wages, legally required employment or worker-compensation obligations, necessary equipment, safe working conditions, severance or other contractual rights. Client tips remain voluntary and separate.

This new Pinnacle programme will take effect from June 2027 onwards. The programme is an internal employer-funded benefit, not a pension, insurance policy, investment product or public deposit scheme. Its detailed rules form part of Pinnacle’s written crew-benefit policy.

Women at Pinnacle

Opportunity in the office.
Opportunity on the mountain.

4 of 9corporate employees at Pinnacle
are women.

Women also make up a significant part of the mountain crew we hire. Their work, skills and experience belong at the heart of our journeys.

We consider gender in recruitment and everyday working conditions. Our commitment is to fair job opportunities, suitable equipment, privacy and respectful, safe working environments—so women can participate fully in the office and in the field.

Fair pay, dignity and Pinnacle’s responsibility for crew welfare apply to every member of our team.

Why your visit matters

Come for Tanzania.
Meet the people who make it unforgettable.

Extraordinary places.
Everyday livelihoods.
One connected journey.

Long before a meal reaches your table, a market mama has selected her tomatoes, a farmer has tended a crop and a chef has imagined what to make. Your Tanzania journey is part of their story, too.

It is part of the hotel cleaner’s careful work, the guide’s years of knowledge and the Tingatinga artist’s patient brushstrokes. Behind each welcome is a wider circle of drivers, craftspeople, growers and small businesses. Visitor spending can support their earnings, household needs and purchases from other local suppliers—reaching beyond the people you meet.

At Pinnacle, we understand these connections because Tanzania is our home. Our local specialists across the country nurture the relationships behind your stay and help you discover the makers, markets, kitchens and hosts that give a place its character.

Choose a painting directly from its artist. Enjoy locally prepared food. Agree fair prices and terms. Let hosts decide when and how they welcome visitors, and ask before taking photographs. Thoughtful travel begins with respect for people and their work.

Come with curiosity. Enjoy the extraordinary landscapes. Make room for the people, too.
